Atomurus keeps the public chemistry lab open without requiring an account, but now offers optional accounts for the private workspace. Account creation and login are handled through a secure authentication provider, and the site does not store raw passwords.
§ 01 Who we are
Atomurus ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at atomurus.com. This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected when you visit Atomurus, by whom, and what choices you have.
§ 02 Information we do not collect directly
Even with optional accounts, Atomurus does not directly collect or store:
- Your raw password or password reset secrets
- Payment details inside the site database
- Sensitive personal profile data beyond what is required for account access
§ 03 Information stored locally in your browser
To remember your preferences across visits, Atomurus stores a few values in your browser's localStorage. These values never leave your device and are not sent to us:
- Theme — whether you prefer light or dark mode
- Language — your selected interface language
- Display preferences — element card size, font size, lanthanide/actinide visibility, atomic mass toggle, animations on/off, heatmap mode
You can clear these at any time through your browser's site-data settings.
§ 04 Analytics — Google Analytics 4
Atomurus uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-Q3ME3FMB8X) to understand aggregated, anonymous usage — for example, which pages are visited most often and roughly which countries our visitors come from. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect:
- Truncated/anonymized IP address
- Device and browser type
- Approximate geographic location (country/region level)
- Pages viewed and time on site
We do not link this data to any individual identity. You can opt out of Google Analytics globally by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
§ 05 Advertising — Google AdSense
Atomurus displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google and its third-party vendors may use cookies and identifiers to:
- Serve ads based on prior visits to this and other websites
- Measure ad performance
- Prevent fraudulent or repeated impressions
You can review and control how Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at google.com/settings/ads or via the Digital Advertising Alliance.
§ 06 Anti-spam — Google reCAPTCHA v3
Atomurus uses Google reCAPTCHA v3 to protect the site from automated abuse. reCAPTCHA runs invisibly in the background and collects hardware and software information (such as device and application data) and sends it to Google for analysis. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
§ 07 Cookies
The cookies set on Atomurus come from third parties (Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Google reCAPTCHA). We do not set first-party cookies for tracking. By using the site you consent to the use of these third-party cookies; you can disable cookies in your browser at any time, though some advertising or anti-spam features may behave differently.
§ 08 Children's privacy
Atomurus is intended for a general audience including secondary-school students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the site requires no registration, no personal data is submitted to us in any case. If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns, please consult our Terms of Use.
§ 09 Third-party links
Atomurus may link to third-party websites (for example, scientific references, library projects or sources). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites — please review their own policies.
§ 10 Data security
Because we do not collect personal data on our servers, the security exposure of Atomurus is intentionally minimal. The site is served over HTTPS.
§ 11 Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (for example, the GDPR in the European Union or the LGPD in Brazil), you may have rights regarding personal data processed about you by third-party services such as Google. To exercise those rights, please refer directly to Google's own privacy controls linked above.
§ 12 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" at the top of this page.
